Heidi with poinsettia

I don’t know if this will be my last post before Christmas – but just in case it is, I would like to wish everyone who reads this a very Happy Christmas.

Heidi with poinsettia

I am now onto cards for my French friends, having left them till last as they don’t need to be posted.  I have used Heidi, by Sylvia Zet for Wee stamps, and I’ve coloured her with promarkers, and fired brick distress ink to get the red colour I wanted.  The fur effect on her clothes and boots is Stickles frosted lace.  I used a fleur de lys square die around the image and doted some liquid pearls on the square.  The papers are all classic Christmas by LOTV and the ribbon and pearl are from my stash.   The sentiment is computer generated.

For some time I have been trying to buy a poinsettia die – but either they were small or out of stock – so I thought I’d try making one myself.  I printed off a flower from a Nitwit paper collection, but it had 5 petals so I cut out 3 of the petals and repositioned them.  I used this as a template to cut the base layer of the poinsettia from 2 pieces of the red paper and stuck them together.  I made another 2 layers by cutting this shape a bit smaller each time.  I drew along the edges with a glue pen and frosted them with glamour dust.  Hopefully by next Christmas I will have ordered a die, but in the meantime I’m quite pleased with the result.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges-
