I like to make a centre piece for our Christmas table with candles, baubles and greenery, but this is the first year I have tried to transfer an image onto a candle to use in my decoration.
My first attempt was on a very old candle, which was lurking in the Christmas box in the garage. Yesterday I went to our local village to get some more candles but the only ones I was able to buy had a film on them, which meant the image wouldn’t transfer. I resorted to the potato peeler to remove the film and the image transferred well after that. I used James and the snowman by LOTV, stamped it onto tissue paper and coloured it with promarkers. I transferred the image with a collar of greaseproof paper around the image and my heat gun. After leaving it to cool for a few moments I glittered the fur on James’ hat with Stickles frosted lace. As the candle is perfumed my craft room smelt lovely yesterday evening.
I circled the candle with some red ribbon from my stash and added a small bow. The candle is sitting on a circle of oasis, into which I’ve pushed some small pieces of leylandii from the garden and I’ve added a few baubles, a bundle of cinnamon sticks and a tiny pine cone.
I would like to enter my project into the following challenges –
